Pro/MECHANICA Thermal enables designers to evaluate the temperature and heat performance of a design using sensitivity studies - not hardware prototypes. Effects of design changes can be easily investigated and the best combination of all possible changes to improve the design can then be generated automatically by performing an optimisation study.

Apply heat loads, prescribed temperatures, and convective conditions directly to the model geometry produced in the design environment. These heat loads may be uniform or spatially varying and can be graphically previewed for definition verification.
Run Steady State Simulations. The results can then be imported as Thermal load cases into Pro/MECHANICA Structure to determine stress and deflections.
Specify convergence settings based on local temperature, energy norm, global error norm or user-defined measures before running a simulation and review graphs of the convergence criteria results at each pass to visually inspect the convergence behaviour.
Select one or more sensitivity parameters to vary over a range and then graphically review results as a function of that changing parameter.
Calculate local sensitivity results at a small offset from the nominal parameter value and visualize whether varying a certain parameter has a significant effect.
Optimise designs by specifying multiple design parameters and a design goal in terms of cost, mass, temperature heat flux, temperature gradients, or any other aspect of the design. For example, the mass of an assembly could be minimized while keeping stress, first modal frequency, and maximum model temperature within limits.
Store and view results as fringes, contours, and query plots of temperature, temperature gradient, and heat flux over selected model entities - or view graphically as functions of geometry, optimisation iteration, or as single value measures such as maximum temperature.
