PRESS RELEASE
Elite Consulting Sponsors Quicksilver World
Water Speed Record Bid
Elite Consulting Ltd has joined
the Quicksilver World Water Speed Record Challenge as a Technical
Associate. Elite Consulting will be the Official Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Specialist and Structural Consultant to the Quicksilver team.
Quicksilver will be powered by a single
Rolls-Royce Spey 101 turbofan engine and the structure will be an
ingenious marriage of high-tensile steel tubing and honeycomb sandwich
panels.
Elite will undertake research to
verify the strength and stiffness of the craft's structure, to ensure that
it can perform its demanding role. The work will be conducted by its
specialists, using an advanced computer-based technique known as Finite
Element Analysis (FEA), employing Pro/MECHANICA®
software by Parametric Technology Corporation, a Technical Partner of the
Quicksilver team.
Signatories to the three-year
agreement today were Quicksilver driver/Managing Director Nigel
Macknight and Ray Ellender, Elite Consulting’s Managing Director.
Speaking of his company's new association, Ray
Ellender said, " I am delighted to be supporting a British World
Record attempt. After the success on land by Richard Noble's Thrust SSC team
in 1997, it is time for the World Water Speed Record to return to its
rightful home."
