Engineering Calculations

Although we are using some of the most  the sophisticated software available to the industry, we haven't forgotten the basics.  Therefore for many projects we will undertake some quick 'back-of the envelope' hand calculations, just to get a feel for the problem and as a quick check that the computer's answers are in the right ballpark.

To help us with this we sometimes write our own calculation routines, using Excel, MathCad, or Basic.
